Institute of Construction Science Wins Accreditation Review for National Laboratory and Inspection Body Recognition

2024 June 22–23, Year On [date], the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment dispatched a panel of experts to conduct the first on-site assessment of Nantong Institute of Building Science Co., Ltd. The expert panel reviewed the company’s system operation, management elements, and technical elements, conducting a meticulous, comprehensive, and rigorous evaluation of aspects such as document preparation and record-keeping, internal audits and management reviews, staff training, environmental facilities, instrument and equipment configuration, and result reporting. Following a thorough assessment, the expert panel unanimously agreed to pass the review.
2024 In September of this year, Nantong Municipal Institute of Building Science Co., Ltd. was awarded both a laboratory accreditation certificate and an inspection body qualification accreditation certificate by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment.
The China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) is an authoritative body established in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Certification and Accreditation and the Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Accreditation Bodies, and duly designated by the State Administration for Market Regulation. CNAS conducts accreditation and assessment activities for conformity assessment bodies, including certification bodies, laboratories, inspection bodies, and validation and verification bodies, and is responsible for the operation of the national accreditation system for such bodies. CNAS accreditation for inspection bodies currently represents the sole domestic authorization that is granted following a comprehensive evaluation of whether an organization possesses the capability to conduct building appraisal.
The attainment of dual accreditation from the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment—both as a laboratory and as an inspection and testing institution—marks the Nantong Institute of Building Science Co., Ltd. as a nationally accredited testing and inspection body. At the same time, the company’s scope of testing and inspection services, as well as its business operations, have been further expanded. Its current business portfolio now encompasses testing of construction materials, quality assessment of construction projects, pile foundation testing, structural appraisal of buildings, forensic architectural safety assessments, and the execution of building reinforcement works, thereby providing robust support for the company to conduct business nationwide. As the only inspection and testing institution in Nantong City that holds qualifications from the Housing and Urban–Rural Development Department and is accredited by CNAS on both fronts, the Institute will actively facilitate the transformation and upgrading of the company’s operations, open up new markets, and make unremitting efforts to ensure the enterprise’s sustained, stable, and healthy development.
