The meeting reviewed and approved the Work Report of the Fifth Council of the Nantong Municipal Charity Federation, the Financial Work Report, and the Work Report of the Supervisory Board; it also reviewed and approved the Articles of Association of the Nantong Municipal Charity United Federation and agreed to change the name of the Nantong Municipal Charity Federation to the Nantong Municipal Charity United Federation; furthermore, it elected the Sixth Council and the Sixth Supervisory Board of the Nantong Municipal Charity United Federation. Huang Weidong was elected President of the Nantong Municipal Charity United Federation.

Over the past five years, the Municipal Charity Federation has focused on building Nantong into a “City of Charity,” carrying forward and promoting the city’s rich charitable heritage. It has played an active role in poverty alleviation, epidemic prevention and disaster relief, support for the vulnerable and disadvantaged, and rural revitalization, earning numerous national and provincial awards and recognitions and benefiting more than 170,000 individuals or instances of assistance.

In his address, Li Xiaomin stated that in recent years, Nantong’s charitable sector has achieved remarkable results, characterized by broad-based fundraising, compassionate assistance and support, the sustained inheritance of cultural traditions, and deep community engagement. These achievements have not only made significant contributions to the city’s economic and social development and to the enhancement of people’s wellbeing, but have also provided valuable experience for the development of the charitable sector across the province. He expressed the hope that the Nantong Municipal Federation of Charitable Organizations will firmly uphold the clear guiding principle of developing and strengthening the charitable sector under the banner of the Party, accurately grasp the essential nature, contemporary value, key tasks, and practical requirements of charity, pursue steady progress while striving for greater effectiveness, and devote concerted efforts to serving the overall development agenda, delivering targeted assistance and support, fostering a stronger culture of benevolence, and deepening institutional development—thereby continuing to generate valuable experience for advancing the development of the charitable sector throughout the province.

Wu Xinming fully commended the new achievements made by the Municipal Charity Federation in all its undertakings, and expressed the hope that the Municipal Joint Charity Federation will thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on the development of charity, uphold Party leadership as the guiding principle, carry forward fine traditions, and contribute greater charitable resources to advancing Nantong’s new practices in Chinese modernization. It is essential to remain steadfastly committed to serving the Party with compassionate hearts and to maintain the correct direction; to deeply appreciate the decisive significance of the “two establishments”; and, in conjunction with in-depth study and education on the spirit of the Central Committee’s Eight-Point Regulation, to proactively plan and carry out charitable work within the broader context of the city’s overall development. We must ensure that charitable acts are truly for the people and deliver tangible results, by identifying precise entry points for assistance, enhancing the impact of projects, improving the precision of relief efforts, and addressing the real difficulties faced by the masses with dedication, empathy, and vigorous effort. We should also work to improve mechanisms and optimize the charitable ecosystem—by perfecting systems for information disclosure and transparency, establishing robust oversight and management mechanisms for charitable activities, and comprehensively elevating the operational standards of charitable organizations. Furthermore, we must pool collective strength and foster a vibrant culture of philanthropy by broadening channels for charitable giving, promoting a culture of charity, sowing the seeds of compassion, and further cultivating a positive social climate in which everyone cares about and participates in charitable endeavors. Party committees and governments at all levels should incorporate the development of charity into their overall plans for economic and social development, thereby establishing a normalized mechanism for the development of charity characterized by Party leadership, government impetus, social participation, and professional operation.

On behalf of the new board of directors, Huang Weidong stated that they will, in accordance with the latest directives from General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Party Central Committee on “making concerted efforts to build civilized cities that uphold virtue and promote goodness,” steadfastly use Party building to guide the high-quality development of charitable undertakings, further pool charitable resources from all sectors of society, help ensure that the basic living needs of the people are adequately met, precisely addressed, and securely guaranteed, and thereby advance common prosperity. They will also vigorously promote the effective implementation, thorough execution, and meticulous refinement of community-based charitable work, persistently foster a culture of charity, continuously improve internal management mechanisms, strengthen self-regulation within the sector, and enhance information disclosure. Through these efforts, they aim to break new ground in all aspects of the work of the Nantong Municipal Federation of Charitable Organizations, infusing the “City of Charity” with fresh vitality and achieving new results, while continually enhancing the prestige and value of the “City of Charity” brand.

The conference presented “Acts of Kindness” plaques to role models in charity, caring organizations, and individual donors. The Group was recognized as a “Caring Enterprise” by Nantong City.
