Our company was honored as one of the Top 100 Construction Enterprises in Jiangsu Province for 2011. On July 3, the 2011 Provincial Conference to Commend the Top 100 Construction Enterprises and a Report on the Economic Development Situation were held in Yixing. During the conference, the “Decision on Commending the Top 100 Construction Enterprises of 2011,” jointly issued by the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban–Rural Development, the Provincial Bureau of Statistics, and the Provincial Department of Commerce, was read out, and certificates and plaques were presented to the 100 enterprises recognized across six categories: overall construction strength, architectural decoration and fit-out, steel structure construction, building installation, infrastructure, and foreign economic cooperation in the construction sector. Our company has been awarded the title of “Top 100 Enterprises in Jiangsu Province for Overall Construction Strength.”

At the meeting, Xu Xuejun, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban–Rural Development and Director of the Provincial Construction Engineering Administration, provided a comprehensive review of the province’s construction industry development in 2011. He pointed out that throughout 2011, the vast majority of cadres and employees in the provincial construction sector adhered to scientific development as the central theme and transformation of the development model as the main thread, innovated their approaches to development, conscientiously implemented the spirit of the Provincial Construction Industry Work Conference, carried out a comprehensive work plan, accelerated structural adjustment and transformation and upgrading, and actively promoted the application of information technology and industrialized construction in the sector. Thanks to the concerted efforts of the entire industry, building on the solid foundation laid during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, the province’s construction economy achieved a strong start in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period.
In summarizing the work of the first half of this year, Xu Xuejun stated that in 2011 the province’s construction industry exhibited five salient features: first, major indicators of industry development achieved new breakthroughs; second, regional development within the sector entered a new phase; third, efforts to adjust the industrial structure and promote transformation yielded fresh results; fourth, new successes were attained in expanding markets outside the province; and fifth, the “Suzhou Phenomenon” emerged as a new highlight. Xu Xuejun also expressed full recognition of the industry’s performance across nine key areas. He noted that, despite the favorable overall economic environment in the province and the carryover effect from last year’s higher output, the province’s construction sector continued to demonstrate steady growth in its principal production and economic indicators during the first half of the year. Key economic metrics rose steadily, progress in structural upgrading and transformation was significant, leading and backbone enterprises improved their quality of development, expansion into markets outside the province proved highly effective, the industrialization and informatization of construction advanced in a solid and systematic manner, construction quality and workplace safety once again reached new heights, market regulation remained well-organized, tendering and bidding as well as cost management were conducted in an orderly fashion, and enterprise Party building and cultural initiatives made further headway.
With regard to the key tasks for the second half of the year, Xu Xuejun emphasized that we must continue to follow the overarching guidelines set forth at the provincial construction industry work conference—namely, “optimizing the industrial structure, expanding into new areas, and strengthening overall competitiveness”—and earnestly implement the provincial government’s directives on accelerating the development of the construction industry and taking the lead in building a province strong in construction. We should keep our focus firmly on putting the Scientific Outlook on Development into practice and on the central task of speeding up the transformation of the growth model, with particular emphasis on advancing strategic adjustments to the industrial structure, further opening up new markets, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of construction enterprises, and continuously reinforcing the construction industry’s status as a pillar sector and a major driver of prosperity for the people. Our goal is to achieve year-on-year growth of more than 15% in the province’s total construction output and to ensure that key economic and technical indicators continue to maintain a leading position among their national counterparts. He expressed the hope that all construction enterprises across the province will study and draw on the advanced practices of the top 100 firms, thereby achieving new breakthroughs in advancing the reform and development of the provincial construction industry.
Gu Weidong, Director of the Macroeconomic Research Institute of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, delivered a special report titled “The Current Economic Situation and the Development of Emerging Industries in Jiangsu.” Leaders from the Provincial Bureau of Statistics, the Provincial Department of Commerce, and other relevant departments, as well as responsible officials from the construction authorities of all prefecture-level cities in the province, leaders of the construction authorities in the province’s key counties (cities and districts) renowned for their strong construction industries, and heads of the 100 enterprises honored at the event, attended the meeting. Chairman Zhang Xiangyang also attended the meeting and received an award.
