New Year Address by Zhang Xiangyang (December 31, 2012) Dear Colleagues: At this momentous time when the entire nation is earnestly studying and implementing the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and striving to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects, we are about to usher in a new year. On the occasion of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, on behalf of the Board of Directors, the Party Committee, and the General Manager’s Office of our Group, I would like to extend New Year greetings and warm salutations to all employees of the company, retired cadres, model workers, retired staff, overseas construction personnel, and their families. I also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to leaders at all levels and friends from all sectors who have shown concern for and supported the development of our company. At this moment of nationwide earnest study and implementation of the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, as we strive to achieve a moderately prosperous society in all respects, we are about to usher in the New Year. On the occasion of bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new, on behalf of the Board of Directors, the Party Committee, and the General Manager’s Office of our Group, I would like to extend warm New Year greetings and heartfelt salutations to all employees, retired cadres, model workers, pensioners, overseas construction personnel, and their families; and to express our sincere gratitude and best wishes to leaders at all levels and friends from all sectors who have shown concern for and supported the development of our company. Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
In 2012, under the strong leadership of the Group, the entire company adhered to the Scientific Outlook on Development, adopted innovative approaches, rose to challenges, pursued steady progress while striving for improvement, and worked tirelessly to successfully achieve all annual economic and technical targets as well as all assigned tasks, thereby maintaining robust growth momentum. Over the past year, the company’s operating performance remained at last year’s record high, with total contracted project value and completed construction output both exceeding RMB 10 billion, and a new market structure emerging both domestically and internationally. Significant breakthroughs were made in obtaining and consolidating qualifications: the company was once again approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban–Rural Development as a Grade-A General Contractor for National Housing Construction Projects, further cementing its position among the leading players in the construction industry. Notable achievements were also attained in technological innovation and quality enhancement, with four national invention patents and utility model patents awarded throughout the year, along with 10 provincial- and municipal-level awards for high-quality projects, 36 provincial- and municipal-level QC achievements, and 54 provincial- and municipal-level technological innovation results. The company’s management capabilities reached a new height, with its quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems operating in full compliance with relevant standards, and its level of information-based management meeting national standards; moreover, no major quality, environmental, or safety incidents occurred during the year. The company’s brand image continued to improve, earning it a string of prestigious honors, including “National Outstanding Construction Enterprise,” “Top 500 Private Enterprises in China,” “Top 100 Most Competitive Enterprises in China’s Construction Industry,” “ENR Top 225 Global International Contractors,” “Top 60 Chinese Contractors,” “Advanced Enterprise in Jiangsu Province’s Open Economy,” “Top 100 Most Competitive Enterprises in Jiangsu Province’s Construction Industry,” and “Nantong City Private Sector Silver Medal Enterprise,” thus winning widespread acclaim from stakeholders at home and abroad.
The year 2013 was a pivotal year for the Group, marked by a commitment to steady progress and innovative development, as well as a critical period for seizing opportunities and meeting challenges. In the new year, the entire company will take the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China as its guiding principle, closely focus on the theme of the Scientific Outlook on Development and the central task of accelerating the transformation of the development model, emphasize adherence to the overarching work orientation of seeking progress while maintaining stability, ensure sustained and sound growth in both pace and quality, actively promote the transformation and upgrading of the enterprise, continuously enhance project management capabilities, make concerted efforts to improve the overall competence of all employees, and create the necessary conditions for the early adoption of a general contracting business model.
In the year ahead, the entire company must uphold the corporate spirit of “hard work and pioneering initiative,” adhere to the principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability to ensure sustainable development; persist in structural adjustment and promote transformation and upgrading; diligently strengthen internal capabilities and enhance management standards; deepen reform and reinforce team building; put people first and foster a harmonious enterprise; strengthen institutional development and improve democratic governance; serve society and fulfill our social responsibilities; and rely on our employees to achieve common development for both the company and its workforce.
In the new year and on this new journey, under the wise leadership of the Group, let us unite as one, remain steadfast in our confidence, pioneer and innovate, work diligently and pragmatically, press forward with determination despite heavy responsibilities, and jointly create a bright future for the Group.
