Chairman Zhang Xiangyang Visits Mozambique to Conduct Inspection and Extend Condolences On April 18, Zhang Xiangyang, Chairman of the Group Company, led an inspection and condolence delegation comprising Chen Guoli, Deputy General Manager of the Group; Shao Jinman, Chief Accountant; and Zhang Xiyi, Deputy General Manager of the Overseas Branch, on a visit to Mozambique to conduct inspections and extend condolences. Accompanied by Zhang Aijun, General Manager of the Mozambique Branch, Chairman Zhang Xiangyang and his delegation successively inspected projects under our company’s general contracting, including the GAZA Provincial Government Office Building and the new campus of LURIO University. The GAZA Provincial Government Office Building is located in the new district of XAIXAI, the provincial capital, more than 200 kilometers from the capital, Maputo, and is a four-story frame structure.
Chairman Zhang Xiangyang Visits Mozambique to Conduct Inspection and Extend Condolences
On April 18, Zhang Xiangyang, Chairman of the Group Company, led a fact-finding and condolence delegation—comprising Chen Guoli, Deputy General Manager of the Group; Shao Jinman, Chief Accountant; and Zhang Xiyi, Deputy General Manager of the Overseas Branch—to Mozambique for a visit to conduct on-site inspections and extend condolences.
Accompanied by Zhang Aijun, General Manager of the Mozambique Branch, Chairman Zhang Xiangyang and his delegation visited several projects under our company’s general contracting, including the GAZA Provincial Government Office Building and the new campus of LURIO University.
The Gaza Provincial Government Office Building is located in the new district of XAIXAI, the provincial capital, more than 200 kilometers from the capital, Maputo. The building features a four-story frame structure with a total floor area of 8,000 square meters and was constructed under a contract valued at US$7.98 million. Upon arrival on site, Chairman Zhang Xiangyang extended his cordial greetings to all construction personnel and listened to Project Manager Jiang Hanjie’s briefing on the project’s construction and production plan. Chairman Zhang emphasized that the project team must place the highest priority on construction quality and safety management, ensuring both first-time excellence in workmanship and safe construction operations. In view of the large number of local workers employed on the project, Chinese staff are required to strengthen safety oversight and rigorously implement all necessary protective measures. Furthermore, Chairman Zhang urged the project team to carry out meticulous organization and rational scheduling, with the goal of delivering this project as the region’s premier landmark undertaking.
The new campus of LURIO University is located in Nampula City, the capital of Nampula Province, more than 2,500 kilometers from the capital, Maputo. Since our company commenced construction on the first project in 2009, we have continuously undertaken all individual buildings on the campus, including classrooms, student dormitories, faculty apartments, administrative office buildings, a cafeteria, and sports fields. We are currently organizing construction of the laboratory building. At the site, Chairman Zhang Xiangyang listened to reports from Project Managers Ji Changqiu and Xia Maolin on the quality of the works, expressed satisfaction with the project’s quality, and instructed the project team to further strengthen meticulous management, draw on past experience, strive for excellence in detailing, and ensure that all works are completed to a high standard.
Mr. Ferrao Jorge, President of LURIO University, enjoys a strong cooperative relationship with our company. Upon learning that Chairman Zhang Xiangyang and his delegation had arrived in Nampula, the President personally hosted a special banquet at his residence in their honor. He particularly commended our company’s high-quality, fast-paced construction performance and stated that all engineering projects at the university would be entrusted to us for execution. In addition, the President accompanied Chairman Zhang Xiangyang and his delegation throughout their inspection tour of the Nacala Special Economic Zone in Mozambique.
During his stay in Nampula, Chairman Zhang Xiangyang also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a kindergarten named after our company on the campus of Lurio University and delivered a speech. In his address, he pledged to ensure the timely and successful implementation of the project and committed to donating a batch of educational and daily necessities to the kindergarten, thereby contributing to the enhancement of friendship between the Chinese and Mozambican peoples.
Since entering the Mozambican market in 2004, our company has consecutively implemented more than 20 school projects of various types across the country, spanning nine of Mozambique’s eleven provinces—most of them located in remote and isolated areas far from the capital. Despite these challenges, all our construction personnel at the Mozambique branch have risen to the occasion, meticulously organizing and executing each project, earning high praise from the clients. As a result, we have now become one of the largest international contractors for the Engineering Directorate of the Mozambican Ministry of Education. President Armando Guebuza has personally attended the completion ceremonies of three school projects under our general contracting, demonstrating his recognition of our work. In recent years, while successfully delivering school projects commissioned by the Ministry of Education, we have also leveraged our strong track record to secure additional contracts awarded by the National Tourism Authority, the Gaza Provincial Government, and other entities. These projects are commissioned by local government agencies, with reliable funding sources and high safety standards. Chairman Zhang Xiangyang has urged the Mozambique branch to seize these opportunities: while diligently executing the newly secured projects, they should intensify their business development efforts and strive to further expand their market share in the public works sector. Currently, the Mozambique branch has nine ongoing projects with a total contract value of US$22.07 million, and has established three fully equipped bases in the capital Maputo, the central port city of Beira, and the northern city of Nampula, providing comprehensive logistical support—including personnel, materials, and equipment—to ensure the smooth execution of all on-site operations.
