On August 29, the “Top 500 Private Enterprises in China 2013,” compiled by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, was unveiled in Beijing. A total of 15 private enterprises from Nantong made the list, with Nantong Third Construction, Central South Holding Group, and Nantong Second Construction all ranking among the top 100 private firms.
A concurrently released research and analysis report shows that the total operating revenue of China’s Top 500 private enterprises has surpassed RMB 10 trillion, with the entry threshold rising to RMB 7.772 billion. Among the Top 500, Nantong’s “construction corps” stands out as a major highlight, with 11 local firms making the list: Nantong Third Construction ranked 50th, Nantong Second Construction 66th, Suzhong Construction 119th, Nantong Sixth Construction 209th, Nantong Fourth Construction 221st, Tongzhou Construction General 249th, Longxin Construction 259th, Nantong Construction Engineering 315th, Nantong Fifth Construction 402nd, Shuntong Construction 447th, and Jiangzhong Group 499th. Notably, Nantong Third Construction, with total operating revenue of RMB 38.165 billion, ranks 50th overall—first among Nantong’s private enterprises—underscoring the city’s strength as a renowned “hometown of construction.” In addition, Zhongnan Holdings, a leading player in the real estate sector, ranked 60th with RMB 35.048 billion in revenue, while Wenfeng Group, a representative of the wholesale and retail industry, came in at 148th with RMB 20.838 billion in revenue.
