The Group Company Conducts Job Training for Newly Hired Employees in 2016

Now is the perfect time to set sail; hoist the cloud-like sails and cross the vast blue sea.

To help new employees better familiarize themselves with the corporate culture, transition into their roles, and integrate into company life, the Group conducted a five-day pre-employment training program for the 2016 cohort from August 1 to 5. A total of 49 new employees from diverse regions, universities, and academic disciplines participated in the program.

On the first day of training, Li Weidong, Executive Deputy Manager of the Group Company, delivered a mobilization address. He read out a welcome message for new employees, outlined the Group’s development journey and industry prospects, provided an in-depth analysis of the Group’s performance in the construction sector, and highlighted its vast growth potential—thereby instilling confidence and courage in the newly hired professionals who have just entered the construction field.

Over the subsequent three days of training, building on the company’s longstanding annual onboarding program for new employees, the Group further expanded both the breadth and depth of the curriculum. In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of the company’s corporate culture, construction and production technology management, safety production management, human resources policies, and financial systems, the program also offered detailed and in-depth instruction and discussion on technical knowledge and career planning. This enabled new employees to set clear career goals from the outset, helping them define the direction and objectives of their future work and thereby avoiding potential blind spots and misconceptions down the road. On the afternoon of August 4, the Group arranged a special site visit for the new hires to several completed and ongoing projects undertaken by the company, allowing them to gain a profound and direct understanding of the significance of their work, while strengthening their confidence in the company and fostering a stronger sense of professional belonging.

On August 5, the company organized a meet-and-greet symposium between new employees and the leadership of the Group. During the meeting, representatives of past outstanding college graduates from the Group shared their work experiences with the new hires, drawing on their respective job roles to summarize their insights and lessons learned since joining the company and to describe the everyday aspects of life on construction sites. Subsequently, the newly hired university graduates each introduced themselves and discussed the benefits they had gained from the onboarding training as well as their plans for their future careers. Following the new employees’ remarks, Chen Jianqing, Deputy General Manager of the Group, expressed two expectations: first, that the new employees should be ambitious and driven, setting clear goals in their work and maintaining a proactive attitude toward continuous learning; second, that they should enjoy both their work and their personal lives at the Construction Engineering Group.

Finally, Mr. Zhang Xiangyang, Chairman of the Group, delivered an important address. He began by extending a warm welcome on behalf of the company to the 49 newly hired employees. He noted that the training on corporate culture, management systems, and key job requirements had enabled the new recruits to gain substantial insights, while the sharing sessions by outstanding alumni who are currently employed provided valuable guidance, helping them avoid unnecessary detours. He further emphasized that, despite the current overall economic downturn and the challenging employment landscape in the construction industry—coupled with large-scale layoffs at other companies—the Group continues to prioritize talent acquisition, thereby fully demonstrating its long-standing commitment to attracting, developing, and nurturing talent. He expressed the hope that all new employees would cherish this opportunity and perform their duties diligently in their respective roles.

Chairman Zhang Xiangyang set forth three requirements for the new employees’ future work: First, they must quickly transition into their new roles and adapt to the working environment. He noted that the construction industry has long been characterized by demanding working conditions; although these have improved overall in recent years, they remain considerably more challenging than in many other sectors—particularly compared with academia. New employees must therefore be fully prepared to endure hardship. The construction industry has historically made a substantial contribution to the national economy; while its golden age of rapid growth has passed, given China’s overall economic development and the unique characteristics of the sector, construction still holds significant potential for future growth. With a commitment to diligent learning and hard work, employees will undoubtedly achieve success in their respective positions and enjoy promising career advancement within the industry.

Second, we must study diligently and work conscientiously. The construction industry today employs a vast workforce—approximately 80 million people nationwide—making competition extremely fierce. The knowledge you acquired in school is by no means sufficient to meet the demands of your jobs; therefore, you must consolidate the knowledge base you developed in school through on-the-job experience and continuous practice, gradually enriching and enhancing it as you gain practical expertise. For many years, our company has upheld the tradition of mentorship and apprenticeship: every new employee should seize every opportunity to learn from their mentor, absorbing the invaluable on-site management and technical insights gained through the mentor’s ongoing field experience. In addition, you should humbly seek to learn from your colleagues and from the workers on the job site, using this ongoing learning process to hone your organizational, coordination, and communication skills. He hopes that, regardless of the position assigned to each of you, you will embrace and take pride in your role, cultivating a deep commitment to whatever you do, upholding the craftsman’s spirit of resilience and hard work, and maintaining a serious, down-to-earth work ethic—so that you may soon develop into capable professionals who can independently and effectively carry out their responsibilities.

Third, we must approach both life and work with a grateful heart and strive to become outstanding individuals who are recognized by society. He emphasized the importance of being grateful to our parents for providing us with a favorable environment for learning and living; to our teachers for selflessly imparting vast knowledge; and to our company’s leaders, mentors, and colleagues for offering us employment opportunities and extending their support throughout our careers. Only by maintaining a constant sense of gratitude and cultivating a grateful heart can we learn how to give back, reciprocate, and cherish what we have. It is only then that we can truly embody the company’s culture and core values, ensuring that every construction professional—regardless of their background, character, or capabilities—stands out as a leader in the industry.

Finally, he expressed the hope that newly hired employees, once officially on the job, will diligently study and work hard in accordance with the company’s requirements, take full responsibility for their own development, strive to be both good people and excellent professionals, and quickly grow into pillars of strength for the company and society.

In his concluding remarks, Li Weidong emphasized that new employees must proactively adjust their mindset and reset their past achievements to zero; they should approach their work with genuine enthusiasm, enhancing their initiative, proactiveness, and sense of responsibility. All units are expected to extend the same care and concern to new employees in their personal lives as they would to their own children, implement a mentorship system to provide hands-on guidance, develop detailed career development plans for them, and offer active political support by encouraging them to join the Party and align themselves with the Party organization.

The five-day training program has now come to a successful conclusion, leaving new employees with more than just the training content—it has also provided valuable insights into how to quickly integrate into their teams and the organization while enhancing their individual skills. Those who have already been assigned to their posts will soon face the challenges and tests of their work. The Group Company has created a broad platform for all employees to showcase their talents, and we are confident that, through their hard work and ingenuity, these new employees will compose their own inspiring chapters on this stage!
