On the morning of May 17, the “Symposium Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Nantong Charity Federation and the Nantong ‘Charity Star’ Awards Ceremony,” hosted by the Nantong Charity Federation, was held in the auditorium on the first floor of the China Charity Museum. Attending the event were Lu Zhipeng, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress; Han Liming, Mayor of Nantong; Jiang Hongkun, President of the Jiangsu Provincial Charity Federation; Wang Dezong, President of the Nantong Charity Federation, along with other leaders. Li Weidong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group Company, attended the awards ceremony as a representative of an organization that has made a substantial charitable donation.
At the commendation ceremony, Jin Yuan, Executive Vice President of the Charity Federation, reported on the Federation’s achievements in charitable work over the past 20 years. Mayor Han Liming presented honorary certificates to two former chairpersons, Huang Bing and Cheng Yamin, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Nantong’s charitable cause. Wang Dezhong, Chairman of the Charity Federation, then announced the donation amounts from 49 contributing organizations, including Nantong Construction Engineering, prompting sustained and enthusiastic applause from the audience. Representatives of donating organizations, individual donors, and students who have benefited from paired assistance programs each delivered remarks, highlighting the ongoing legacy of charity that has evolved from collective efforts to individual acts of compassion.
Finally, Lu Zhipeng, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress, delivered a speech. He pointed out that the people of Nantong have a time-honored tradition of enthusiastic philanthropy, which has given rise to numerous caring groups and many outstanding role models, with acts of kindness by ordinary people emerging one after another. This has created the remarkable “Nantong Phenomenon” in spiritual civilization building, becoming an important spiritual hallmark of the city. He expressed the hope that more individuals from all sectors of society will join in charitable endeavors, demonstrating social responsibility and a sense of proactive commitment by helping those in need, thereby further rallying powerful positive energy throughout society—encouraging everyone to recognize goodness, aspire to goodness, and put goodness into practice.
Over the years, the Group has demonstrated a strong sense of social responsibility and mission. While steadfastly pursuing reform and development and striving for excellence, it has upheld and promoted the time-honored virtues of generosity and philanthropy, actively responding to the annual charitable donation campaigns organized by the Nantong City and district (including development zone) Charity Societies. Through concrete actions, the Group has given back to society, donating millions of yuan in cash and in-kind contributions. In the recent “Passing on Compassion—Relay of Good Deeds” fundraising campaign hosted by the Nantong City Charity Federation, the Group made a one-time donation of RMB 300,000.
