On March 28, the first phase of the Sumin New Energy project—the world’s largest high-efficiency photovoltaic cell manufacturing base—began operations in Tongzhou Bay. Over the next three years, it is expected to achieve an annual output of 5 GW of high-efficiency solar cells, thereby significantly reshaping the domestic energy industry landscape and elevating new-energy development, with photovoltaic power generation as its flagship, to a key emerging industry for Nantong City. Chen Bengao, Vice Chairman of the Nantong Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Tongzhou Bay Demonstration Zone, Qiang Yi, Director of the Management Committee, and other leaders attended the inaugural production ceremony for the first phase. Zhang Xiangyang, Chairman of the Group Company, Zhong Yiming, Deputy General Manager and General Manager of the Third Branch Company, and Yu Fengbin, Deputy General Manager and General Manager of the Installation Branch Company, attended as representatives of the construction entity.

The 5 GW photovoltaic cell project in Tongzhou Bay is a solar-cell production line invested in and constructed by Nantong Sumin Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd. within the Tongzhou Bay Demonstration Zone. Our company undertook the project under a BT (Build–Transfer) arrangement, with a total construction cost of approximately RMB 800 million. In less than one year, the Tongzhou Bay 5 GW Photovoltaic Cell Project Team completed the first-phase construction of a 130,000-square-meter factory building, along with all associated mechanical and electrical installation and commissioning works, setting a new industry record for construction speed in the photovoltaic sector.
Guests at the event jointly witnessed the historic moment of the “Green Energy for Global Benefit—Inauguration Ceremony for Phase I Production of the Nantong Sumin New Energy 5 GW High-Efficiency Photovoltaic Cell Project,” and toured the operational cell production line on site. State-of-the-art equipment vividly showcased Sumin New Energy’s cutting-edge technology and robust capabilities in high-efficiency cell manufacturing, while rows of towering, pristine factory buildings eloquently embodied the “Iron Army Speed” that Nantong Construction Engineering consistently delivers through relentless innovation and efficiency.
