With the beginning of a new cycle, all things are renewed. Time moves forward without pausing for past glories; the journey of striving is always ongoing, never truly complete. Filled with excitement and anticipation, we bid farewell to 2020 and stride boldly into 2021. On this occasion of the changing of the year, on behalf of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and the General Manager’s Office of our Group, I would like to extend our most sincere greetings and best wishes to all our employees and cadres, retired cadres, model workers, and retired staff. We also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude and warm New Year wishes to our customers and partners who have long supported and trusted us, as well as to all friends from various sectors of society who have consistently shown concern for and support of Nantong Construction Engineering.
The past year has been an exceptionally extraordinary one in the history of New China. Faced with a severe and complex domestic and international economic environment, a highly competitive construction market, daunting tasks in reform, development, and stability—particularly the grave impact of the COVID-19 pandemic—we maintained strategic composure, accurately assessed the situation, meticulously planned and deployed our response, simultaneously prioritizing epidemic prevention and control and the resumption of work and production. Through arduous efforts, we delivered a remarkable and commendable performance that will go down in history. Our business operations advanced steadily while striving for progress: the total value of newly signed engineering contracts and the company’s annual turnover both surpassed RMB 20 billion once again; work to prevent and defuse major risks was deepened; new strides were made in overseas expansion; corporate management reached a new level; information technology development achieved new milestones; and brand-building yielded fresh results. The company was honored with prestigious titles such as “ENR Top 250 Global Contractors,” “Top 500 Private Enterprises in China,” and “Top 80 Chinese Contractors.” The successful completion of the key economic and technical indicators and work assignments for 2020 also marks the successful conclusion of the Group’s 13th Five-Year Plan. These achievements were hard-won, the result of overcoming numerous difficulties and obstacles, and they reflect the sound leadership, care, and support of Party committees, governments, and competent authorities at all levels, as well as the united determination and concerted efforts of all cadres and employees across the company.
The year 2021 marks the inaugural year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and is of exceptional significance in China’s modernization drive. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we must comprehensively implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Plenary Sessions of the 19th CPC Central Committee; uphold the general principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability; ground ourselves in the new stage of development; apply the new development philosophy; and foster a new development pattern. With high-quality development as the overarching theme, transformation and upgrading as the central task, and reform and innovation as the fundamental driving force, we will consolidate and expand the achievements made in epidemic prevention and control as well as in resuming work and production. Closely aligned with the changing times in the construction industry’s transformation and upgrading, we will fully implement the requirements for high-quality development, with particular emphasis on ensuring steady growth, establishing sound institutional frameworks, strengthening rigorous oversight and management, cultivating talent, pursuing innovation, and reinforcing Party building. We will strive to enhance enterprises’ core competitiveness and risk-resilience, endeavor to maintain their sustained, stable, and healthy development, ensure a strong start and solid foundation for the 14th Five-Year Plan, and celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China with outstanding achievements.
We shall press on even as we reach the halfway point up the mountain, and redouble our efforts to forge ahead in the midst of the torrent. Although the Company’s 13th Five-Year Plan has been successfully concluded, many unknown challenges still lie ahead, awaiting the joint exploration and overcoming by all Nantong Construction workers. Looking ahead to 2021, we face both opportunities and challenges: a brighter future beckons, while heavier tasks await. We must rise to the occasion, take proactive measures, make the first move, and fight proactively; we must firmly grasp the new development paradigm featuring the domestic circulation as the mainstay and the mutual promotion of domestic and international circulations; we must seize the opportunities presented by the nation’s new round of development strategies; and we must surmount every obstacle and spare no effort to achieve the development goals and tasks for the year ahead. Let us continue to carry forward the corporate spirit of “hard work and pioneering,” uphold the corporate philosophy of “integrity, standardization, innovation, and efficiency,” remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, strive with determination, work diligently, ignite our dreams with passion, and build lasting glory through hard work—so that, with an even more solid imprint, we may energetically usher in a new phase of high-quality development for Nantong Construction in the new era!
