Chairman Zhang Xiangyang Attends the Nantong “Going Global” Industry Annual Conference and the Second Session of the Eighth Membership Congress of the Nantong Foreign Economic Cooperation Association

On March 24, the Nantong “Going Global” Industry Annual Conference and the Second Session of the Eighth Membership Assembly of the Nantong International Economic and Technical Cooperation Association (hereinafter referred to as the “Nantong Foreign Economic Cooperation Association”) were successfully held at the Jinshi International Convention Center. Fang Qiuchen, President of the China International Contractors Association, and Gao Hongyu, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Director of the Nantong Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and Director of the Port Office, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Zhang Xiangyang, President of the Nantong Foreign Economic Cooperation Association and Chairman of the Group Company, also attended the assembly and presented the work report.

Director Gao Hongyu delivered the opening remarks, stating that the CPC Nantong Municipal Committee and the Nantong Municipal Government have always attached great importance to the “going global” initiative. The city’s reputation as a leading hub for foreign economic cooperation has continued to grow, with Nantong taking the lead in the province in establishing a municipal-level unified insurance platform for overseas expansion, instituting a joint conference mechanism for “going global” initiatives, and launching a series of “Safeguarding Overseas Expansion” activities to provide comprehensive services and support for enterprises. The Nantong Municipal Bureau of Commerce will continue to promote higher-quality “going global” efforts, offer more robust policy support, and build an even better service system. The China International Contractors Association boasts strong resources, platforms, and talent advantages; the Bureau earnestly requests that the Association continue to show its consistent concern and support for Nantong’s foreign economic cooperation, helping local enterprises establish connections, enhance their capabilities, and expand into new markets.
President Zhang Xiangyang delivered the work report on behalf of the Association’s Eighth Council. He began by reviewing the Association’s activities in 2022. Despite the impact of multiple factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic and Sino-U.S. tensions, the Nantong Foreign Economic Cooperation Association closely aligned its efforts with the national Belt and Road Initiative. By serving as a vital bridge and link, the Association played a leading role in encouraging enterprises to expand overseas in a proactive yet prudent manner, facilitating industrial transformation and upgrading, and promoting high-quality economic development, thereby achieving commendable results. President Zhang stated that in 2023, under the guidance of the China International Contractors Association and the leadership of the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Nantong Foreign Economic Cooperation Association will more precisely assist enterprises in navigating the challenging business environment, more effectively fulfill its roles as a bridge and self-regulatory body, and more systematically promote the sustained and healthy development of the industry. The key words for the Association’s work in the new year are “solidity and excellence,” with a focus on six priority areas: first, leveraging the leading role of Party building to foster the integrated development of Party work and business operations; second, strengthening the establishment of rules and regulations to promote the scientific and standardized conduct of all activities; third, enhancing the level of foreign economic cooperation services to support enterprises in pursuing high-quality international expansion; fourth, innovating and optimizing the business environment to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of foreign-related enterprises; fifth, increasing revenue streams while reducing expenditures to lower costs and boost efficiency, thereby bolstering the Association’s vitality and ensuring sustainable development; and sixth, summarizing and distilling the historical milestones of the Association’s development as a tribute to its 30th anniversary. In closing, President Zhang expressed his hope that all member enterprises will continue to join forces and forge ahead in 2023, jointly creating new achievements and new glories for Nantong’s foreign economic cooperation.
In his address, President Fang Qiuchen stated that the remarkable achievements of Nantong’s “going global” initiatives would not have been possible without the sound guidance and robust support of the Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Foreign Economic Cooperation Association, as well as the tireless efforts and tenacious spirit of enterprises across various sectors. Looking globally, the world has now entered the post-pandemic era, with economic and social development gradually returning to normal. He advised Nantong-based enterprises, in this new context, to deepen their engagement in target markets, accelerate transformation and upgrading, focus on capacity building, strengthen risk management and control, and pursue win-win cooperation. The Contractors Association stands ready to work closely with the Nantong Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Foreign Economic Cooperation Association to provide industry enterprises with professional services covering business consulting, trade fairs and forums, sector-specific training, market development, and end-to-end support for international engineering projects, thereby helping Nantong’s foreign economic cooperation sector achieve new heights of success.
During the event, unveiling ceremonies were also held for Nantong’s “Going Global” overseas workstations and its Foreign-related Digital Legal Services Center, and the “Most Beautiful Nantong Foreign Economic Professionals” and exemplary cases of foreign investment and economic cooperation were announced. President Fang Qiuchen and President Zhang Xiangyang jointly presented medals to the “Most Beautiful Nantong Foreign Economic Professionals.”
